Well, with those cute chocolate Mareeps, I was knew Vdex was going to have a problem sooner or later. But if Vdex is acting up like the Valentines event, then Shiro has really done a great job this time. I wonder how Shiro will top this off.
Even though, I was thinking that the event pokemon was going to be marshmollow Torchics. I would go crazy and waste all my money and buy tons of pokeballs and go catch every Torchic I see.

I wonder if it's possible to have an additional server for vdex which is only used during major events? XP

That would help. All I'm getting General Commander Error responding to me.

pkmntrainerred: Because they turn into Blaziken, thats why. If you haven`t guessed, I`m a huge Blaziken fan. And to show it, I have raised at least 50 Blazikens since 3rd gen came out. That also includes a shiny Blaziken

I couldn't log in either. Shiro hasn't updated his Twitter, so at the moment all is silent on the VDex front

Well, it wasn't the event that crashed the server. Some kind of MySQL error or something that Shiro couldn't fix, had to resort to calling support and having them settle this. Site's back up now, if nobody noticed yet.

Site's back up now, if nobody noticed yet. THAT. I followed through Twitter steps, and Shiro said it actually had nothing to do with Event.
