(Continued from here.) Tara and Claudia had made their way to the caves on this calm, peaceful Friday night. However, it may not remain peaceful, as far as the Rocket leader was concerned. She gave a soft smile, hearing the sounds of digletts and archeologists digging farther in the cave. "Well, shall we see what they're up to? I hope they've found something worth my while." Tara commented, glancing at her young recruit. |

"Well, it could very well be something worthwhile, maybe fossils, relics, I dunno. I'm hoping skeletons, I find bones... interesting." Claudia replied, hoping that something amazing was under the ground in that cave, and hoping she'd be helpful and make her boss proud of her for more than just her ability to battle well when seemingly outmatched.
She frowned, it was a bit colder than she had anticipated, and her cute jeans and favorite magenta peasant blouse weren't exactly wind proof. Claudia frowned and pulled her faux-leather jacket out of her messenger bag/laptop case while trying to keep up with Tara, blowing the blonde streak in her hair out of her eyes. "Stupid weather!" Claudia muttered, pulling on her coat.

There was the sounds of mining deeper in the cave. It was quiet, but it rebounded and reverberated through the entire cave. It wasn't just the Diglets this time, however. Someone else was down there, and when the sounds of their voices reached deeper in the cave, the man-made drilling stopped. A pair of footsteps could be heard approaching them from deeper within the cave, finally stopping within range.
Holding a torch was the Police Chief himself, Elton. His white hair was in a miner's cap, and unlike his usual kimono he was wearing something closer to Roark's attire. He frowned at them, hand by a Pokeball
"Well well well, looks like one good turn deserves another"

"Oh, if it isn't the Chief of Police himself. Still working among the dirt and the trash?" Tara commented with a smirk. She hadn't come here to pick a fight, but if he ended up wanting to play, she'd be happy to teach him some respect.
"So, what have we down in the mining area? Some new fossilized species, I presume? I must admit, the notion does intrigue me."

Elton was not going to beat around the bush on this one, obviously. He had a set of cuffs along his belt loop, and the hand that wasn't looming threateningly over a Pokemon was now over them. A few Digletts were watching from their little holes in the cave, as if they were wondering what would happen

"Tsk-tsk, pretty boy. I've done nothing wrong, by your laws. Or, rather, nothing that you can prove. Suspect me all you'd like, but you have no proof to convict me of any felony, least of all the girl." Tara said with a small smile, glancing over at her newest recruit with a wink.
"We're just doing a bit of sightseeing, is all. Isn't that right, Claudia?"

"Under arrest? We haven't done anything illegal if I'm not mistaken." Claudia said, a note of distaste in her voice. "I'll have you know I happen to have an interest in anthropology and wanted to investigate the find here. Now what, may I ask is so illegal about that?" Claudia asked, trying very hard to look nonchalant.

Elton turned and faced Claudia for a single long, tense moment before turning back to Tara, raising a finger to point at her still as he muttered
"Your friend isn't one of the most wanted criminals in all of Kanto. She can go, but you are leaving this cave with me. So you can choose to either come quietly as I escort the two of you away from the perimeter, or you can stay here and join your boss in a cell"

Claudia was absolutely terrified, but she knew she had to do something. "N-no! You can't take Miss Tara! She is my FRIEND and my TEACHER and you aren't arresting her unless you go through US!" She yelled, releasing all her Eeveelutions with her last word. The golden fur of Verdant the Umbreon, Petal the Glaceon, and Lush the Espeon glinted slightly in the moonlight. Frost Leaves' pale grey coat was bright in the darkness, and Blossom the white and green Flareon adjusted her hat with her front paws and then growled. Claudia was absolutely terrified to battle the police chief, but maybe Tara could escape in the confusion or something. Tara was important, she wasn't. That thought kept ringing through her mind as she and her Eevees stood tense and ready to protect Tara.

Tara arched an eyebrow at Claudia, somewhat surprised at her response. For a new recruit to be so devout and determined to help her Boss... it was somewhat rare, considering that all she usually got were power-hungry trainers who only wanted to amass even more power. However, while she was the young Rocket's mentor, she wouldn't have gone as far as to say "friend." As the leader of Team Rocket, she wasn't supposed to have any friends, only enemies and subordinates. But, of course, she didn't say any of that out loud.
Normally, she would've just shrugged off the attempt to take her into custody and walked out, but with her pupil there attempting to defend her... It would come off as a sign of weakness to let another member of Team Rocket fight her battles for her. In that moment, she made her decision. She gave a slow smile, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the Police Chief, her hand going to her belt. She took a Rocket ball from it and tossing it up and down in a casual manner, as she said calmly,
"Well, then.... it looks as if I'm not going anywhere. Least of all into custody. After all, according to your records, you have nothing to prove that I've committed any crime. So, if you want to fight, then let's fight. If not, then leave me be, and get back to your babysitting... or whatever it is you do here."

Claudia was confused, firstly as to why Tara wasn't taking this opportunity to flee (she pretty much had handed an escape plan over on a silver platter) and also as to where most of her speech came from, as Claudia wasn't truly friends with Tara, she was terrified of Tara, sure, but friends? She wasn't sure. But she held her ground, staring down the police chief, feeling more confident with Tara backing her up. 2 vs 1 is a pretty lopsided battle after all.

Elton gave a 'are you retarded?' look as he drew a Pokeball as well, running it through his fingers as he asked aloud, trying to keep his mind off of how this was going to end
"It's a bit cramped in here. If we're going to do this, we should do it outside"

Tara gave a small shrug, uncaring how tight of a space they were in. After all, her pokemon were small enough to fit in the tunnels. She didn't care about anything else. And if it inconvenienced Elton or any passing trainers... it was all the more fun for her. The tunnels were wide enough for Tara and Claudia's pokemon to battle alongside each other, but there wasn't much more room than that.
"Here's fine with me. I still intend to at least see the dig site before I leave, so this is close enough." she told him, her smile a very confident one.
